Research, insights and technology reflections

Peter Öhlén

Peter Öhlén is a Principal Researcher in the Network Architecture and Protocols area at Ericsson Research. His focus is network automation for 5G, integrating different technology domains – transport network, radio and cloud., with the goal of achieving full automation by efficient frameworks, exposure of relevant data and applyication of smart algorithms. A key current challenge is when and how we can apply machine learning to deal with complex problems. Peter joined Ericsson in 2005, and has worked in a variety of technology areas related to wireless and fixed networks. He holds a Ph.D. (2000) in photonics from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden.

Test your 5G application in the Urban ICT Arena

The 5G test platform that Ericsson offers to innovators and service developers in the Urban ICT Arena (UICTA) now includes an edge cloud. Applications that need to be executed close to the end user – in other words, those that need very low latency or deal with a lot of local data – can now be tested in a real network environment. Find out more about this test environment and how it can support faster application development.
