Ulrika Engström

Ulrika Engström is a Senior Researcher in the Antenna Systems field at Ericsson Research. She joined Ericsson in 1999 and has worked with and led projects in antenna system research for future testbeds, and 5G New Radio research. She holds around 10 radio related patents. Ulrika was part of starting up the work on smart manufacturing in Ericsson Research in 2015, serving as the Ericsson coordinator for the collaboration projects “5G enabled manufacturing”, 5GEMI and 5GEMII . Ulrika holds a Ph.D. in Physics and an M.Sc. in Engineering Physics, both from Chalmers University of Technology.

5G Enabled Manufacturing

How can 5G be of help in making industries more efficient and flexible? This is what I together with a team at Ericsson, SKF and Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, worked on in a project called 5GEM, 5G Enabled Manufacturing. Now the follow-up project 5GEM II has just started, with Volvo Trucks and Siemens joining as new partners.
