Q: Why did you buy MetraTech?
A: Ericsson acquired MetraTech to expand its footprint in multiple vertical markets, including utilities and transportation, to address Billing as a Service (BaaS), and to expand innovation capability in the United States and elsewhere.
Q: What value does MetraTech bring to Ericsson?
A: Ericsson will gain additional key functionality related to the deployment of billing, settlement and self-care solutions, helping Ericsson to expand its billing and software leadership beyond the telecom industry and augment its BSS portfolio with a leading Billing as a Service platform.
Q: What is included in the transaction?
A: This is a cash transaction which brings to Ericsson 140+ highly skilled employees and contractors from MetraTech based mainly in the US (Boston, Massachusetts), but also in EMEA and Latin America. The agreement was signed on July 28, 2014.
