Building 5G networks

With the first commercial launches of 5G quickly approaching, we prepare mobile service providers to go live with 5G. Our network technology enable mobile service providers to smoothly evolve from 4G to 5G and minimize the time to market when they want to turn on 5G.

As with past mobile generations, leading operators are keen to gain a first-mover advantage in 5G. Working with these operators, Ericsson is leading the development of 5G technologies. We provide business insights to ensure early success and rapid adoption of 5G-enabled applications for consumers and for industries, enabling service providers to capture the business potential of the improved capacity, density, latency and agility granted by 5G.

Evolve to 5G

5G radio access keeping pace with the demands for connectivity

Radio access technologies are a fundamental component of 5G. They must support massive numbers of connected devices and meet the real-time, high-reliability communication needs of mission-critical applications in addition to increasing network speed and capacity.

5G core

5G core enables ICT transformation and provides the agility, speed and efficiency required by new services and the massive scale demands introduced by billions of IoT devices.

Microwave backhaul on the road to 5G

Microwave backhaul can deliver superior performance and low cost of ownership. That’s why microwave networks remains a popular and flexible backhaul alternative today and on the road to 5G.

Create your 5G business now

Enhanced Mobile Broadband mainly for consumer will be the first application for 5G. Combining improved capacity with increased cost-efficiency 5G represents an opportunity for telecom operators to improve their consumer business.

5G also gives operators the possibility to address previously untapped value chains. With IoT emerging you can already today start testing new business models and create new revenue streams. Understanding new industry customers and different value chains will be imperative for operators to build a 5G business.

We are continuously gathering insights and needs from consumers as well as industries that we bring to operators through market research and through working with multiple industries to build their connected businesses.
