Ericsson Response - a volunteer initiative deploying emergency communication

Ericsson Response

Ericsson Response sets up mobile networks for voice and data communication and distributes mobile phones to the workers of the aid agencies, phones donated by Sony Ericsson. The partner agencies can make use of the free mobile phones and calls to co-ordinating their work in order to execute their tasks supported by technology. Ericsson Response also assists with other communications technology and IS/IT issues where requested by its partners as seconded resources.

10 years of being active and supporting aid agencies with emergency telecommunication has lead to experience and knowledge. Knowledge applied to any situation that our volunteers are exposed to. Ericsson Response was founded in April 2000 due to the interest of an employee who wanted to use his experience and skills in disaster relief situations. An organization was created and since then hundreds of Ericsson employees from all over the world have volunteered, been trained and deployed in various disaster relief operations.

  • 40 different relief efforts
  • more than 30 countries
  • about 140 Ericsson volunteers

Ericsson Response partners with aid agencies as well as an operator. In 2011 Ericsson Response signed a partnership with Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel). SingTel is to provide satellite connection for the emergency communications service to support disaster relief efforts in South and Southeast Asia through Ericsson Response.
