Experienced Services Engineer
Athens, Greece
"The biggest benefits of working for a multinational company is the opportunity to travel and the training opportunities"
I initially joined Ericsson in the UK as Graduate Services Engineer after working for a competitor for some time. I was looking for a more challenging position with one of the top telecom companies worldwide and I was very happy when the opportunity arose. Initially I spent six month with technical, human and business training in the UK, Ireland and Sweden to acquire the necessary technical, influential and negotiation skills and the business understanding to be able to work in the GPRS support department, where I was assigned. In a few months I reached Assessed Services Engineer level and when I moved to Ericsson Greece I was hired as Experienced Services Engineer.
The greatest challenge in my current position is to handle multiple tasks at the same time. There are integration projects, support work, upgrades, customer conference calls; everything happening simultaneously and all customers expect everything to be on time and according to plan.
In my opinion the biggest benefits of working for a multinational company is the opportunity to travel and the training opportunities. Ericsson is also a multicultural company and you have the opportunity to meet and work with people from different cultures and experience different ways of thinking and working.
To me Ericsson provides a nice work environment and the opportunity to work along with professionals of the highest competence which promotes mobility of people as well as ideas.
The Telecom industry is a stimulating professional environment to work in. The industry is developing rapidly and new ideas and technologies constantly emerge which involve a wide range of products and services to work with. It is very satisfying and I feel very privileged working for Ericsson.
Five years from now, I see myself in a position with increased responsibility, taking decisions important for the operation of my department and make valuable contribution to Ericsson.
