In the last issue of the Ericsson Mobility Report we described app coverage. In the November 2013 edition we take this analysis a step further by using the radio characteristics of a WCDMA/HSPA network to predict coverage area and indoor penetration for popular smartphone applications such as streaming music and video, video telephony, and circuit-switched voice. We also apply the same app type requirements on downlink speed to compare network performance in 17 cities globally. The Interim Ericsson Mobility Report, February 2014 highlights the continued rapid growth of smartphones and connectivity.
