Here is a quick step-by-step guide to how you can start developing applications and where we can help you along the way.
At Ericsson Mobility World, we offer support primarily for developing applications that make use of infrastructure residing within a mobile operator network which enhance the capabilities of your applications. A developer can make use of capabilities such as Mobile Positioning, Charging, MMS and SMS by building interfaces towards service enablers. A service enabler is a node residing within an operator network that exposes these capabilities towards external applications. Through our partnership with Sony Ericsson you also have access to device-based information and SDKs. Requirement specifications You need to familiarize yourself with the type of functionality supported by the service enabler and its Application Program Interface (API). This will help you understand the requirements your application must meet according to the service enabler it will be linked to. Ericsson Mobility World provides this information in the form of white papers and other documentation. You can access information about Ericsson's service enablers here and download documentation here. Analysis and design Before starting code implementations you'll need to do a pre-study to find out how to use the service enabler API and how it will work with your application platform. To support you in this, Ericsson Mobility World provides technical design information such as white papers, programmers' guides and API specifications in the Software Development Kits (SDKs). The Discussion Forums can also be a good place to get advice at this stage. Implementation SDK APIs and API implementation is available so that you can execute your code implementation. Emulator tools can be found in the service enablers' SDKs and you can use them to execute your code during the code implementation phase. In the SDKs you can also find sample code that will help you understand how to code for basic usage and you can use the design pattern to start coding specific cases. Test and verification The emulators in the SDK packages are a good start for testing your application, but you also need to test with real service enablers to verify that you can connect your application with a live system. At Ericsson Mobility World, we can offer you remote testing services over the Internet and end-to-end verification with a mobile phone and radio network at one of Ericsson's test centers. Deployment When you deploy your application on a hosting site, you may be concerned about stability. Ericsson Mobility World technical support is available to help you through these challenges and other deployment issues.
