Detail Records can provide you with the charging related information to make it possible for you to handle file-based, event and online mediation for charging of voice, SMS, MMS, data, content, services and applications deployed in the operator-controlled domain (i.e. within the walled garden). The Detail Records can be considered as a primitive form of revenue that, with refining, results in actual revenues. The collection and distribution of charging data for either charging or accounting are fundamental functions for an operator's revenue flow. Furthermore, by facilitating an intelligent mediation solution, the product allows a high level of refining of the charging and accounting data.
Detail records are used to provide a detailed log of the use of a service or an application. The records are collected by a mediation system, such as Ericsson Multi Mediation 3.0. The mediation system will process this data and send the result as records to a billing system or other types of down-stream systems. The detail records are mainly used for charging, but can also be used for other purposes, such as statistics. The records shall contain information that is sufficient to produce a chargeable record to send to a billing system or other down-stream systems. The records are normally stored in files and collected by the mediation system at certain intervals.
