The 2013 Johannesberg Summit brings together wireless/mobile industry R&D leaders with leading academics to probe into the future of wireless.

In a significant step toward its goal of providing the world’s most complete and flexible mobile commerce service, Ericsson today announced a partnership with Eurogiro that will allow more than 60 major banking groups and postal organizations worldwide to transact across Ericsson’s M-Commerce Interconnect service. This partnership adds global reach and flexibility to Ericsson’s m-commerce solutions.

Ericsson and other major Operations Support Systems (OSS) providers, are taking the lead on OSS interoperability with a new initiative to enable the use of vendors’ OSS interfaces outside of those defined by standards organizations. To help operators simplify network operations and reduce costs, the companies have agreed to cross-license such OSS interfaces for multi-vendor network management.

• Ericsson introduces a new surface-mounted version of its second generation of digital Advanced Bus Converter (ABC) products, called the BMR456-SI.
• High-efficiency, digitally controlled DC/DC converter compliant to full surface-mount manufacturing processes; high-precision tooled pins guarantee high co-planarity and robustness
• Highly advanced firmware integrated in the BMR456-SI contributes towards significant reduction in energy consumption
• Tightly regulated output voltage (±2%) over the full operational range of 36V to 75V
• Output power up to 468W for datacom applications

In the latest round of GSM network construction, China Mobile Guangxi Branch and Ericsson have joined together to deploy world’s first City Site, an innovative radio site solution, which has been put into commercial use on a trial basis.

Requiring only half the bitrate of its predecessor, the new standard – HEVC or H.265 – will significantly reduce the need for bandwidth and expensive, limited spectrum. HEVC (H.265) will enable the launch of new video services and in particular ultra HD television (UHDTV).
