Radio Access

Image

Our portfolio of Radio Access Network products enables operators to build a highly profitable radio network based on any mixture of the GSM/EDGE, WCDMA/HSPA, LTE and Wi-Fi technologies.

2G - GSM, the technology that made us mobile

GSM/EDGE delivers high data speeds to mobile devices with the largest available global coverage. It allows users to connect to the internet and send and receive data, such as digital images, web pages and photographs, much faster than is possible over an ordinary GSM/GPRS network while at the same time freeing up GSM network capacity to accommodate additional voice traffic.

3G - WCDMA, the leading 3G technology

WCDMA/HSPA, the world's leading 3G technology, is a cost-effective solution for voice traffic and the best technology for delivering the capacity and efficiency needed for mass-market mobile broadband services and fast remote access to corporate LANs.

WCDMA/HSPA is part of the Full Service Broadband offering, which generates profitable revenue by providing mobile broadband access with similar or better performance than most fixed networks.

HSPA is undergoing a strong evolution to even higher speeds, more capacity and lower latency. This evolution further strengthens the user experience of mobile broadband, while at the same time minimizing the network costs for operators.

4G - Leading the introduction of LTE

LTE (Long Term Evolution) represents the next step in the evolution of 3GPP technology. It offers high peak speeds, low latency, high capacity, spectrum flexibility and network simplicity.

LTE is chosen by most operators as the technology for next generation communication.

Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA)

Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) is an industry standard for accessing GSM services (voice and data) over broadband. The services are delivered from the mobile core network over any IP broadband connection and into the mobile phone via unlicensed radio (WiFi). Our UMA solution, called Mobile@Home, is based on the 3GPP Generic Access Network (GAN) standard.
