





Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer, Head of Group Function Technology & Portfolio Management and Head of Ericsson in Silicon Valley
Håkan Eriksson is Senior Vice President and General Manager, Group Function Technology and Portfolio Management, and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson. He has been CTO since January 2003 and President of Ericsson Silicon Valley since 2010.
Eriksson’s career at Ericsson started in 1986, spanning the research and later launch of GSM, the world's first global standard for second-generation mobile communications. Currently, Eriksson is focusing on IP and the convergence of wireline and wireless technologies. Citing another reason to be based in San Jose, California, Eriksson says the "epicenter of the mobile device industry has shifted from Finland to Silicon Valley."
Eriksson has held a number of senior positions in Research and Development for Ericsson in Sweden and internationally. As a holder of 15 essential patents, he recognizes the importance of innovation and is the sponsor of Ericsson’s annual Application Awards, which grants a prize and business opportunity to students and entrepreneurs from around the world.
Eriksson is also an elected member of The Royal Academy of Engineering Science a Member of the Board of Vestas.
Håkan Eriksson holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and an Honorary Ph D, both from Linköping Institute of Technology, Sweden.
