Mats H Olsson

Head of Region China & North East Asia

Mats H. Olsson is Senior Vice President of Ericsson Group and President of Ericsson China & North East Asia. In this position, he has overall responsibility for Ericsson’s operations in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, as well as in Japan, South Korea and North Korea.

Prior to holding this position, he was President of Ericsson Greater China (2004-2010), with responsibility for Ericsson’s operations in the world’s most rapidly changing telecom markets.

Olsson is also International Economic Advisor to a number of China’s provincial and municipal governments, namely Shaanxi, Hunan, Wuhan, Chongqing and Hebei.

He began his career at Ericsson in 1982 and has been working in Asia since 1984. During the 1980s, he founded Ericsson’s wholly-owned offices in Hong Kong, Beijing and in Indonesia.

Olsson was President of Ericsson’s operations in Taiwan (1992-1996), in Indonesia (1996-2001) and in Malaysia (2001-2004).

Between 2001 and 2004, he was the first President of Ericsson Region South East Asia & Oceania, where he consolidated all of Ericsson’s business in this extremely challenging and diverse region.

Olsson was born in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1954. He holds an MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics.
