Senior Vice President Asia-Pacific
On January 1, 2013 Mats H Olsson became chair of Ericsson’s three Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions: Region North East Asia (RNEA), Region India (RINA) and Region South East Asia & Oceania (RASO). The region heads remain fully responsible for their respective regional operations.
In this position, Olsson will represent the CEO and the group overall in APAC, reinforcing Ericsson’s commitment to its existing and potential customers as well as other external stakeholders in the region.
Olsson was previously President of Ericsson North East Asia, with overall responsibility for Ericsson’s operations in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, as well as in Japan and South Korea. Between 2004 and 2010, he was President of Ericsson Greater China, with responsibility for Ericsson’s operations in the world’s most rapidly changing telecom markets.
Olsson is also International Economic Advisor to a number of China’s provincial and municipal governments, namely Shaanxi, Hunan, Wuhan, Chongqing and Hebei.
He began his career at Ericsson in 1982 and has been working in Asia since 1984. During the 1980s, he founded Ericsson’s wholly-owned offices in Hong Kong, Beijing and in Indonesia.
Olsson was President of Ericsson’s operations in Taiwan (1992-1996), in Indonesia (1996-2001) and in Malaysia (2001-2004).
Between 2001 and 2004, he was the first President of Ericsson Region South East Asia & Oceania, where he consolidated all of Ericsson’s business in this extremely challenging and diverse region.
Olsson was born in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1954. He holds an MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics.
