Silicon Valley, one of the world’s major ICT hotspots, was once simply known for being home to silicon-chip production. Now a thriving high-tech hub, Silicon Valley is filled with companies that are transforming the world with their new products and services.
Telecom has also changed, and the industry is no longer a single homogeneous business. Today we are working with many other industries including IT as well as verticals and content producers. Eventually, all industries will be working with telecom, as content will be delivered in ways we can’t imagine today.
We are on the brink of the Networked Society, where everything that benefits from a connection will be connected. Our urge to share and collaborate will be enabled by easier access to each other and to the tools we need to work, live and be entertained. It took 100 years to connect 1 billion places, but just 25 years to set up 5 billion mobile subscriptions. So what does the future hold?
