Ericsson demonstrates true converged services with commercial IMS solution

Ericsson will demonstrate converged services by showing Ericsson Instant Talk, Always Best Connected, weShare whiteboard, video conferencing, chat and gaming applications, as well as common enablers, such as presence and group-list management, across all applications. IMS will help provide a seamless, consistent experience across multiple access technologies, devices and locations, whether wireline or wireless, narrowband, wideband or broadband, business or personal.
"The implementation of IMS signals a fundamental shift in the way telecom services are created and delivered, helping bring about true fixed-mobile convergence for the next wave of multimedia applications," said Mikael Stromquist, Executive Vice President, Strategy and Marketing, Ericsson North America. "Ericsson's IMS solution provides mobile and fixed operators a secure migration to all-IP architecture and enables them to meet end-user demands for new, enriched services."
Ericsson's IMS enables a wide range of standardized services as well as operator specific innovations. The solution also brings significant cost savings and performance improvements by allowing the integrated delivery of multimedia communications services, the unification of fixed and mobile operations, and the creation of a single infrastructure for voice and data. Above all, Ericsson IMS provides a flexible architecture that simplifies and speeds up service creation and provisioning.
Ericsson has IMS deployments and trials with 27 fixed and mobile operators, for services such as Push-to-Talk-over-Cellular (PoC), Combinational Services, IP Telephony and IP Centrex.
