Ericsson signs IMS agreement with SPT in Vietnam

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) announced today its agreement with Vietnamese operator Saigon Postel Telecommunication Company (SPT) to build a nationwide IMS-based multimedia network in Vietnam, including Ericsson's Telephony Softswitch.
 
Under the agreement, Ericsson will be the sole supplier of the IMS system for SPT's nationwide network expansion and upgrade. Ericsson will also supply a comprehensive range of professional telecommunication services to ensure successful network delivery.
 
Pham Ngoc Tuan, SPT President says the company's plan is to take advantage of new technology to stay ahead of competition in providing telecom quality IP multimedia services in the most cost-efficient way.
 
"We find Ericsson's IMS solution suitable for our current and future requirements in evolving SPT network to all IP, providing us a good platform for efficient introduction of new multimedia services such as voice, data, audio and video," he says.
