A DAY wants you to picture today, inspire tomorrow

Rather than waiting for special events, I prefer taking photos of my everyday life – on my way to daycare, eating breakfast or getting groceries. I take most of the pictures with my phone, and then I e-mail them to my Posterous account. By keeping it simple and uploading everyday moments I get an image diary of my life. Simple and sweet.

Photos of everyday life is also what Picture Today, Inspire Tomorrow is all about; getting people from around the world to share images of their everyday experiences during one day.

I hooked up with Claudio Prestigiacomo at Ericsson to get some more information about this project.

What is A DAY?

A DAY is a project created by non-profit organization Expressions of Humankind with Ericsson as the global founding partner. On May 15th, A DAY will urge all people from around the world to share a normal day of their life through images. They can take as many pictures they want and then upload them to aday.org. The pictures will then be part of a collection that will be put on exhibition both online and offline.

What is unique about this project?

The image collection is enabled by people being connected in their daily life, and will be a recording of how we live our lives around the world in 2012, with its unique mix of flavors, cultures, colors, places and ways of living. It also has the possibility to serve as an observation point for people in the future wanting to understand what life was like in 2012.

Why should I care about this project?

You should care because it is about you. About you, me and everybody and the power of sharing simple things in life, and to improve the understanding about people around you just through sharing ideas, values, expectations and dreams. Creating this type of story-telling through photos is extremely powerful, because the language of photography is common for all people.
