Ericsson brings simplicity to eir through Online Charging System consolidation
- eir, the largest telecom provider in Ireland, is set to revolutionize its business support system with Ericsson Charging
- The all-inclusive Ericsson Charging solution will combine its voice, SMS and mobile broadband business
- Combining two different charging systems will give eir a future-proof Online Charging System (OCS), enabling them to offer new advanced product offerings and prepare for 5G
Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) has been chosen by eir to consolidate its charging systems using Ericsson Charging as its single, comprehensive system.
Brian Chapman, CIO, eir, said: “We’re looking forward to this continuation of our relationship with Ericsson and the upgrade of our existing OCS to their latest software. The simplification and the benefits we expect the consolidation to bring will enable us to leverage a best-in-class capability to more effectively meet the demands of today’s digital environment.”
eir is set to benefit from an overall reduction in costs, greater stability and flexibility to target new market segments. This also opens the ability to create new advanced product offerings - including support for new 5G use cases.
eir’s customers will access new features, including real-time access to account information, charges and modern and advanced offers to meet exponential consumer demand.
John Griffin, Head of Ireland, Ericsson, said: “Our deep understanding of our customers’ needs is reflected in every business solution we offer. We’re very pleased to offer our scalable and intuitive Ericsson Charging to our long-term partners eir. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with eir and the positive impact that our solution will have on their customers’ experience.”
