Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) has announced launching a new digital services nearshore hub in Egypt to serve Egypt and the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.

Ericsson will add a full range of digital services to enhance how service providers engage with customers to automating operations to reach new levels of programmability, access and agility.

During Phase 1, the company is hiring more than 55 technology experts in digital services and from the telecom sector to help service providers prosper in the digital economy. By leveraging Ericsson’s expertise in digital services, service providers can create digital engagement and monetize from improved customer experiences in addition to optimizing the business model for current or future innovations.

Dr. Amr Talaat, ICT minister, Egypt says: “Ericsson’s new digital services hub is a step forward in helping telcos find the right blueprint for operators’ business. Establishing such hub in Egypt, re-affirms the county’s pioneering position and unique capabilities as a regional leader in IT services delivery for major industry leaders."

According to the latest Ericsson Mobility Report, in 2024, 5G will reach more than 40% population coverage and 1.5 billion subscriptions, making it the fastest generation ever to be rolled out on a global scale. As a result, network operators are struggling to keep up with demands to support this massive increase in data and are looking to improve network and application performance, often as an extension of their overall IT transformation strategy.

Rafiah Ibrahim, Head of Ericsson Middle East & Africa says: “As businesses undergo digital transformation, they are increasingly turning to digital services to achieve agility, access and information. Through this new hub, Ericsson will engage the ecosystem and leverage Egypt’s local talents and experts to serve the operators’ digitization plans.”

The digital services nearshore hub aims to help service providers across MEA define their zero-touch, fully automated, cloud-native, data-driven, future-proof digital blueprint.
