      David Hammarwall is Senior Vice President and Head of Business Area Networks at Ericsson, effective October 1, 2026, and a member of Ericsson’s Executive Team. He is responsible for Ericsson’s network systems and wireless infrastructure business, spanning radio software and hardware from 2G to 6G, as well as baseband, indoor, site and transport portfolios.

      A technology leader with deep commercial experience, Hammarwall focuses on helping service providers capture the full potential of 5G, harness AI and accelerate the journey toward 6G, balancing customer success today with a clear technology roadmap for the next wave of intelligent networks.

      He brings broad leadership experience across Ericsson’s Networks portfolio. Most recently, he led the Ericsson team serving T‑Mobile US. Earlier roles include Global Head of Product Area Networks, Global Head of Product Line Radio, Global Head of Product Line 5G RAN, and leadership of 2G and 3G product lines. He also helped shape Ericsson’s strategy and industry alignment for cellular IoT.

      Hammarwall joined Ericsson in 2007, starting in 3GPP RAN standardization and research, and holds 48 granted patent families. He holds a Ph.D. in Telecommunications and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, with graduate studies at Stanford University. He is based in Stockholm, Sweden.
