Amir Gomroki has been with Ericsson since November 2000 holding various leadership positions. As VP of operations, Amir managed operations of a 6,000-person organization with diverse global development and operations environments across 18 development centers. He was a key driver of the end-to-end strategic planning, continuous improvement, and workforce engagement; collaborating with multiple business functions to deliver high quality customer solutions. As VP of Engineering – DevOps, Amir managed a technical team of over 200 employees supporting 3,000-person global organization across North America, China, India, and Europe.  Here, he managed all aspects of Development Process, Development Tools, Analytics, Test Automation Framework, and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).

In 2018, Amir joined Ericsson’s Research organization responsible for 5G Innovative Initiatives activities across North America. This initiative continues to bring together leading technology companies, industry leaders and academia to explore, test and innovate with 5G networks and distributed edge technologies in North America. The organization adopts a unique proof-of-concept approach to finding new transformative ways for companies and societies to use 5G technology by delivering proven application blueprints. The industry segments currently explored are Industrial Automation, Industrial Internet of Things, Avionics, and Media.

Amir also led a 3-year eXtended Reality initiative across Ericsson Research, the scope of which included AR, VR, MR, Haptics and Cloud Gaming. The research focused on dedicated workstreams such as Holographic Communication, Use Cases & User Experience, Ecosystem, Edge Cloud, Environment Knowledge, End-End Multimedia Processing and Transport. The Ecosystem workstream includes close collaboration with Operators, HDM Vendors, Game Engine providers, Content Developers, and Industrial Forums to have an overall understanding of hurdles to enable mobile XR at scale.

Amir is Ericsson delegate at NextGen (6G) ATIS Application Working Group for North America. The Next G Alliance is an initiative to advance North American wireless technology leadership over the next decade through private-sector-led efforts.
