Andreas Höglund

Andreas has worked in a leading position for the standardization of Massive IoT solutions in 3GPP for many years. His engagement started with the introduction of 4G LTE-M and NB-IoT in Release 13 and its later enhancements, and continued with 5G NR RedCap and Small Data Transmission in Release 17. More recently, the focus has been Low-Power Wake Up Receiver and Ambient IoT in Release 18 and 19, in parallel with concept development of 6G Massive IoT.

Andreas holds an M.Sc. in engineering physics (2002) and a Ph.D. in condensed matter physics (2007) from Uppsala University, Sweden. He joined Ericsson Research in 2008, initially working on HSPA, LTE, system simulations, and EU research projects. Over time, he has come to work as a research leader for the 3GPP standardization of Massive IoT related topics.
