Since 2003, Muhammad is active in the standardization of wireless communication technologies in 3GPP, leading the Ericsson RAN4 team. He has extensively contributed in the development and standardization of HSPA, LTE and NR and is currently working towards further evolution of the 5G technologies in 3GPP and upcoming 6G.
Muhammad holds numerous patents related to wireless communication, was the recipient of Ericsson's "Inventor of the Year 2010" award and was nominated as one of the finalists for the European Inventor Award 2014 in the "Industry" category. Muhammad is the author of the chapter, "Radio Resource Management", in the book "LTE - The UMTS Long Term Evolution: From Theory to Practice", Wiley, Second Edition, 2011.
He joined Ericsson in 2001 immediately after obtaining his Ph.D in mobile communication from Télécom ParisTech, Paris, France.
