Nicolas Blixell

Nicolas Blixell is the Vice President and Head of Gulf Council Countries within Market Area Middle East & Africa at Ericsson, a position he assumed in July 2022.

Prior to assuming this position, Blixell was the Vice President and Head of Global Customer Unit for MTN Group at Ericsson Middle East & Africa. In 2020 he was also appointed Chairperson of the Board of several key countries providing leadership and guidance to Ericsson executives and employees.

In his role, Nicolas Blixell successfully achieved a turnaround of the business, restored relationships with C-level executives and improved customer satisfaction as highlighted by several distinctions awarded to MTN Group in 2019 and 2020.

Nicolas Blixell has been with Ericsson for close to 16 years holding various leadership positions in Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa. He started his journey with a top talents internal program in Ericsson gaining expertise in project management as well as business and leadership trainings. A year later he accepted the role of Strategy Manager where he was tasked with creating the 2008 global services strategy and with the execution of the business plan. Shortly after, he took on the role of Chief Restructuring Officer for Western and Central Europe where he was entrusted with the implementation of a management consulting report that saw the restoration of margins to mid-teens.

In September 2009, Nicolas Blixell was appointed Vice President, Head of Integration and Strategy for Business Unit CDMA Mobile Systems which was born from the acquisition of Nortel that same year. To successfully integrate 2,500+ Nortel employees, Nicolas Blixell managed the shift in a timely manner and within the assigned budget through an innovative integration process and structured governance program management.

Following his successful mission in RASO, Blixell was appointed President and CEO of Ericsson West Africa which included operations in 24 Sub-Saharan countries. Heading a team strong of 800+ professionals, he was able to showcase top line growth and profitability.

Nicolas Blixell started his career in the financial industries in Luxembourg and Sweden before crossing over to ICT in 2006. He has a passion for the industry and, along with the rest of Ericsson’s executive team, is focused on advancing the company’s leadership through innovation, technology, services, and sustainable business solutions.

Nicolas Blixell holds an MSc in Financial Economics from the School of Economics and Management, Lund Sweden, and a Master of Entrepreneurship from Stockholm University, also in Sweden.
