Tommy Falk

Tommy specializes in spatial audio concepts and solutions with contributions to the MPEG-I Immersive Audio standard as well as the 3GPP standard IVAS. Particular focus has been put on volumetric audio, rendering methods for spatially extended sound sources with a certain size and shape, and procedural audio – sound that is generated dynamically in response to live input.

Tommy joined Ericsson in 1999 after earning an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. Throughout his career, he has worked on audio processing and compression related to mobile phones, videoconferencing, remote-controlled vehicles, and more. Lately, his work has focused on standardization in the field of spatial audio.
