Rome wasn’t built in a day, basic steps to self-development

Rome was not built in one day! You might hear people say this quite often, but once you see it, you believe it. Rome is famously known for its classic architecture, mind blowing landscapes and its beautiful cities. It is one of the most visited cities in Italy and the world, all built one day at a time, brick by brick.

Personal development, growth and mind stimulation is like Rome, you must collect to build. You can’t just wake up one day and expect everything to fall into place, effort and time are what determines the output. When I reflect on my own personal development at Ericsson, I am reminded of how well hard work pays off. I strongly believe that I have put in a lot of effort from the time I mapped my career up to when I first joined Ericsson.

At Ericsson, I felt that I have finally found a place that understands what growth really means and provided me with all the tools I needed for that growth. During this phase I even had an STA (Short term assignment) opportunity. This opportunity has helped fill a gap in my career mapping, that I will one day look back and be reminded of how my employer encouraged and provided a platform of growth and personal development, as I like to call it.

Approaching International Women’s Day, I am reminded of an abundance of available opportunities we have as women. We may face challenges but what stands out is that collectively, we are powerful!

#EachforEqual is all about making a positive difference around us and to ourselves - this includes:

  • reading often, as we all know, knowledge is power.
  • volunteer on something, this could involve projects within your division, contribute on something.
  • share ideas, these may vary from little to huge, learn something new at least every week.
  • aim to be great at what you do, be curios! Above all, be open minded.

With this, you can never go wrong! This stimulates your mind and you acquire more knowledge that will ultimately complete the puzzle. Acquire, commit and apply! These principles will equip you for the next stage of your personal development.

Utilize your potential, power and rise!
