Before joining Ericsson
My experience with telecoms and mobile networks did not begin with my move to EEA. Prior to joining Ericsson, I was a university-based researcher in the mobile innovation center. Other than networks, I was also involved in the development of several consumer-focused mobile applications for both- the auto and staffing industries.
EEA, global impact, and global collaboration
When I joined EEA back in 2017, the unit was midway through the T-Mobile deployment, a project tremendous in scale, requiring 1,200 servers working to optimize the experience of more than 80 million subscribers. Creating the kind of ‘subscriber-centric’ analytics tool that T-Mobile was looking for, required substantial client interaction, and so from 2017-2019, I spent two weeks per quarter in the US to co-develop a solution that matched the exact market demands that T-Mobile was facing. The success of this project influenced the business growth significantly. Today EEA monitors the signaling, voice and data transmission quality to provide better user experience for 500 million people across the globe.
Highlights of my current role
When working in an organization of the size and scale like Ericsson, you may expect that your own personal influence might be minimal or at least concentrated. What I love about my role is the direct influence that I am afforded on the outcomes of our product development initiatives. Despite the scale of the project, I see my outputs very clearly. On top of this, interfacing directly with customers is something that I have always enjoyed and it’s an environment in which I thrive.
What I would say to someone considering a career with Ericsson
If you want to work in an organization that has the resources to make changes happen on a global scale yet listens to the voice of the individual, then join us. Ericsson colleagues exist in an environment of mutual respect, openness, and freedom. Freedom to speak openly, freedom to try and freedom to be curious. Keeping aside several great benefits, there is a good degree of flexibility in the work along with the autonomy given to an individual to manage it.
My final thought on this, and maybe the most important, is that a career with Ericsson affords you the opportunity to work on world leading technologies that truly benefit people, your conscience and growth trajectory, will be clear.
