Marco Vaiano, Integration Engineer

Marco Vaiano.

I joined Ericsson in 2023 and spent my first six months in an internship program, where I had the opportunity to learn more about 5G and 4G technologies applied to the Packet Core domain. During those months, I was able to bridge the gap between the theory I studied at university and what is currently used in practice, thanks to tutors who consistently guided me throughout the program.

My current role is Service Delivery Integration Engineer. In my first months since joining Ericsson, I worked on various projects where I experienced firsthand what I learned during my internship. I approached every day as a challenge, and it was during this time that I realized the relevance of the projects we are involved in.

As the name suggests, Packet Core is central to mobile network architecture. It can be seen as the brain that orchestrates network components, managing access, mobility, quality of service, and billing to provide connectivity and services to subscribers accessing the Radio part and being routed to the Internet. Every day, we face new challenges, which makes this work exciting. In our daily routine, we analyze traces, integrate and optimize solutions, and consult with colleagues from other countries thanks to the international community. The growth is rapid, also thanks to internal academies and in-depth meetings on technical topics. We learn a lot, and the results of our work have a significant impact.

At Ericsson, I found a welcoming and caring environment. We have a very active young community that periodically organizes meetings for discussion and understanding the organization, as well as challenges that are held throughout the year.

What motivates me to work at Ericsson is the opportunity to collaborate with those who create the technology, making the experience more stimulating and allowing me to be at the forefront of its evolution.
