Challenge

Modernize the 4G network in London to be 5G- and IoT-ready while retaining a top position for performance benchmarking.

Solution

Ericsson is modernizing 4,070 sites with single vendor Ericsson Radio System (ERS) solutions by using innovative carry-to-site solutions providing flexibility in deployment.

Impact

With more traffic, better throughput and energy efficient hardware consuming 20 -30 percent less power, we retained a top position in performance benchmarking. A flexible portfolio removed the need for cranes, enabling faster deployment and CAPEX reduction.

Vodafone UK selects Ericsson technology to evolve London network

Ericsson has been selected to provide Massive MIMO and Carrier aggregation technology to help Vodafone UK evolve its 4G network in southern England
In addition, Ericsson has been selected to provide Vodafone UK with 5G Radio technology to prepare for the introduction of 5G in the region.
