Removing dependency on diesel energy

Challenge
Power grid supply often remains the biggest challenge in maintaining coverage in remote areas, leading to a heavy dependence on diesel generators.
Solution
Ericsson successfully deployed the world’s first three-technology site (2G, 3G and LTE) in three bands (900, 1800, 2100 MHz). We also deployed a first-ever PSI multi-standard mixed mode, with one baseband and radio node that runs WCDMA and LTE simultaneously.
Impact
This solution runs on less than one kilowatt of power removing the dependency on diesel energy.
