Our exclusive program

Panel session: 5G unlocking synergies for telco and rail operators

Monday, 3rd, March 10:30 – 11:30,
Location: Ericsson, Hall 2, Theater 1

Rail operators are upgrading from the 2G GSM-R standard to 5G technology to enhance real-time monitoring, safety, and passenger connectivity. This digital shift supports both operational processes, like the FRMCS transition, and business innovations, such as Gigabit trains. By sharing infrastructures, rail and telecom operators can explore new synergies. This panel will discuss pioneering 5G initiatives, including Spain's 5G corridors and Germany's GINT, highlighting opportunities and challenges in railway tech integration.

Javier Olveira (MásOrange Spain, B2B Customer Engineering Director)

Mallik Rao (O2 Germany, Chief Technology & Enterprise Business Officer)

Staffan Åkesson (Telia Sweden, CTO)

Francisco Vallejo (Vodafone Spain, Head of Products and Enterprise Solutions)

Jean Michel Evanghelou (UIC International Union of Railways, Director of Systems)
