Ericsson and VMware collaborate to simplify network virtualization
VMware is part of Ericsson’s ecosystem of 3rd party NFVI platform vendors capable of running Ericsson’s Virtual Network Functions and IT applications.
Ericsson and VMware® have signed a global alliance agreement. The two companies are committed to addressing the needs of Communication Service Providers (CSP) who choose to deploy a combination of Ericsson VNFs/applications and VMware vCloud NFVTM . The collaboration ensures that Ericsson VNFs/applications deployed on VMware are tested, validated, and performance-tuned. A joint lab has been created, which involves a rigorous two-part certification and system verification process, and thereby ensures value to CSPs who choose to run software from both companies. Key benefits of this alliance include: Simplified management & operations, accelerated time to market and mitigating risk for CSPs. This alliance will help Communication Service Providers as they make the move to 5G.
This collaboration with VMware complements Ericsson’s NFV full stack offering consisting of the system verified Ericsson NFV Infrastructure and portfolio of Ericsson VNFs.
