Cloud Core Data-Storage Manager

Portfolio

Cloud Core Data-Storage Manager is the commercial realization of the 3GPP Network Functions UDR and UDSF

The Cloud Core Data-Storage manager (CCDM) is a Telco-grade database, designed to provide the major robustness and higher service availability required in the telecom market. Its main characteristics are: Real-time access, high throughput, low latency, high availability, multiple redundancy mechanisms, network congestion handling, high capacity and scalability, and ensured data consistency and durability.

The CCDM is a key component of the Ericsson 5G Core solution and allows the centralization of subscription plus other data and structuring it to provide an optimal access.

CCDM realizes the User Data Repository (UDR) and Subscription Profile Repository (SPR) entities standardized by 3GPP and is designed according to 5G Service-Based Architecture principles.

Ericsson’s commercial realization of the 3GPP User Data Repository (UDR) network function, CCDM was specifically developed to meet the 5G core standalone requirements as well as existing database functionality provided by CUDB.

The Cloud Core Data-Storage manager (CCDM) is an in-memory distributed database, exposed to applications via either a RESTful interface or as an LDAP directory. It was developed as a cloud native application using container and service-based technology to comply with 3GPP 5G standards, providing the flexibility and automation required in a dynamic 5G Core environment.

CCDM consolidates and unifies subscription data for multiple applications in a single database. It can store both static and dynamic data, as well as subscription-related service data and, if appropriate for an application, additional types of data such as routing data, slicing data, session data, and exposure.

As a telco-grade database, CCDM has been designed to provide the high levels of robustness and service availability required by telecom operators. Its main features are real-time access, high throughput, low latency, high availability, multiple redundancy mechanisms, network congestion handling, high capacity and scalability, and ensured data consistency and durability. Also it supports flexible allocation of database resources across different slices for footprint efficiency and service differentiation. Unique features help operators to differentiate services as software probe vTap enabling CAPEX and OPEX saving and support for event exposure.

CCDM is Ericsson’s implementation of the User Data Repository (UDR) and Subscription Profile Repository (SPR) network functions standardized by 3GPP, plus in future the Unstructured Data Storage Function (UDSF)
