Networks without nations: we must unite as an industry for India

India continues to battle the second wave of COVID-19. That’s why Ericsson is reaching out to partners such as TDC to join us in helping UNICEF deliver a critical lifeline for those who continue to be severely affected. Together, as an industry, we have the power to change things for the better. We invite you to join us in making that happen.

We have a firm commitment to disaster relief, helping those who need It whenever we can. It's who we are. - Arun Bansal, President of Europe and Latin America, Ericsson

Worldwide, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on every one of our lives over the past eighteen months. The need for connectivity has never been greater, and for collaboration.

One thing we know about this pandemic is that it is volatile. Cases fall and rise in waves, and the after-effects mean that resources continue to be in critical shape around the world. Tragically, it continues to tear through different countries, not least of all my birthplace, India. Here there remain clear barriers to distributing both medical equipment and treatment to those in critical need of it.

Throughout the past month, I have been incredibly proud to work alongside colleagues who together have donated a combined USD 971,567 to UNICEF’s relief efforts which will help deliver that critical lifeline to people who have been severely affected in India. This unification of us as a company has been inspiring, but not surprising. We have a firm commitment to disaster relief, helping those who need it whenever we can. It's who we are.

The amount, donated by Ericsson employees across 95 countries including a matched donation by Ericsson as a company, will go towards supplying critical medical equipment through UNICEF India such as RT-PCR testing machines to support the identification of new COVID-19 cases, as well as much needed oxygen generation plants and further procurement of other critical supplies for health facilities which are desperately in need of support.

However, this remarkable act of compassion and solidarity with our colleagues and friends in India was more impactful because we worked together not just as a company, but as an industry, alongside partners such as at TDC NET. That's where the real power lies.

" The situation has moved us deeply " - Michael Fränkle, Executive Vice President, TDC NET

“At TDC NET, we’re partners with companies like Ericsson and TCS who have many colleagues in India, currently affected by the desperate Covid-19 situation. The crisis has moved us deeply and in response we have donated to UNICEF to support local families and communities”. Michael Fränkle, Executive Vice President, TDC NET.

We are a technology leader - we aren't only creating ecosystems, working across trusted partnerships to create positive change, we have influence. We all do. And we're using ours to urge the ICT Industry to step up and donate to UNICEF. As partners in the telco industry we are delighted that TDC NET has answered our call.

We have the power and responsibility to bring awareness to the crisis and support UNICEF with their on-the-ground efforts via a donation push. Please, share this message widely.
