Ericsson Estonia site in Tallinn

Ericsson has operated in Estonia for 28 years and in 2009 Ericsson´s own production site was acquired. We have built here a high performing, smart and sustainable industrialization center of next generation mobile network products. Today, the main purpose of the site in Tallinn is to Industrialize the Ericsson Radio Systems portfolio, including both Radio, Ran Compute and Site products.

Through smart manufacturing, we are the enablers of efficient industrialization and telecom products development.  This site has cutting-edge technology and world-class experts who develop new Ericsson Radio System products. We develop the newest network products together with R&D, ensure producibility and deliveries to customers by providing hardware, software, and services to enable the full value of connectivity. From 5G and IoT to virtualization, we are supporting digital transformation for the next generation of mobile services. Ericsson engineers, researchers and scientists around the world are working on what’s next big thing with technology in focus.

Our New Product Introduction (NPI) site is the enabler of industrialization of telecom products development. Ericsson Supply Site Tallinn, where operations in production run 24/7, is an innovation center with cutting-edge technology and world-class experts developing new Ericsson Radio System products. It has been a transformational journey since 2017 – changing from volume site to industrialization site.

Today we make hundreds of prototype builds per month and our competence need has grown in digitalization, automation, industrialization, test development and big data understanding areas. We can proudly say that Supply Site Tallinn has the first and only 5G private standalone network.

Sustainability

Our ambition is to reach NetZero by 2030: get LEED Gold+ certified by 2026, maximize the reuse and recycle rate and fully implement DfE - environmental targets considered from birth to our equipment.

But we have a lot to be proud of already. Currently 100% of the electricity consumed is produced from renewable energy since 2012 and we have the ISO 14001 starndard in place. We are using only LED lights on site, our vehicle feleet is 100% fossil-free, we have installed electrical chargers on-site and company cars have been switched to electric vehicles.

Our automatic warehouse is served by stacker crane (all lights off) from 2016, we are compliant with REACH regulation and only eco-friendly cleaning chemicals are used, 99.8% of the waster is diverted from landfill and we registered a 5% drop in CO2 emissions from heating despite increase in buildings: 2017 CO/m² 0,45 à 2023 CO/m² 0,32.

As sustainability is a strategic priority, we have a Sustainability Guild, regular events
and mandatory trainings for all our collegues.
