Data Science, Machine Learning Operations & Cloud in Egypt

Kareem is currently Ericsson’s Head of Data Science & Cloud SW R&D leading a multinational product area within Cognitive Networks Solution. He's also heading Ericsson Egypt's site R&D. He previously held multiple capacities as a MEA AI & Analytics Regional Manager at Ericsson, Data Science & Analytics Manager at Eventum Solutions, part-time Research Associate in the field of AI applications in telecom networks at the American University in Cairo (AUC), PMO & Ideation Manager at the R&D department, and Telecom Engineering Technical Lead at Vodafone.

He is a product development leader in Artificial Intelligence & data-driven cloud native software solutions. He is an AI & Data Science lecturer and AI Ph.D. researcher, with a passion for knowledge sharing and extracting insights from Data.

Kareem has multiple publications in the field of AI & analytics in telecom networks, a Ph.D. candidate, holding MBA from Swiss School of Management, M.Sc. from Alexandria University, a diploma in Data Science and Big Data from Nile University, and a B.Sc. In Electrical Communications Engineering from Alexandria University.

Ibrahim is the SW R&D Line Manager for Egypt with extensive experience working across different industries including Telecom, Banking, and the public sector. He is a multi-skilled ICT professional who enjoys supporting organizations to achieve their Digital Transformation strategies with the maximum benefit from their IT investment, through delivering Software Architecture best practices, Research and Development, implementation of Technologies, and Quality Assurance using Software Development Methodologies that suit their needs.

Ibrahim has participated in the delivery of the first Digital Bank in Egypt for Misr Digital Innovation as the Architect Lead by Atos, using State-of-the-art Cloud-Native technologies as one of the major career challenges he is proud of. 

Ibrahim holds MBA in Global Business Management from Paris ESLSCA Business School and a B.Sc. in Computer and Systems Engineering from Ain Shams University.

Mohamed is a Telecom Networks Technology Advisor with approximately 19 years of extensive experience in access networks radio optimization, AI/ML solutions, cloud computing, and automation.

He is currently working as Solution Lead for Ericsson's cognitive rApps-as-a-service product at the Egypt R&D Site, where he delivers state-of-the-art AI capabilities for mobile network optimization on HCPs.
 
Mohamed holds a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications Engineering from Cairo University.

Mayar is an experienced Data Scientist with a strong focus on AI for telecom network optimization. She has a Master's degree in Machine Learning from Georgia Institute of Technology and a BSc. in Computer Engineering from Cairo University. Her experience spans the entire Machine Learning life cycle, from research and exploration to production. She has a successful track record at different units at Ericsson, with contributions to multiple products, patents, and research publications. She's also an active researcher in the areas of Reinforcement Learning, Explainable AI, and Quantum ML.

Ziad is an Experienced Data Scientist who is also a fervent researcher in quantum computing and its symbiotic association with machine learning and data science.

He holds a Master of science degree (M.Sc.) in electronics and communications engineering with thesis entitled “Enhancing quantum computing using machine learning techniques”; one of the first theses –at the time- to make use of that paradigm in the rapport between quantum computing and machine learning.

He obtained his bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in electronics and communications engineering from AASTMT with ABET certified coursework and top rankings among his class. Former Teaching assistant/researcher at AASTMT college of engineering (electronics and communications engineering and computer engineering) and college of computer science.

Rana is an Experienced Data scientist with +5 years in developing ML and DL algorithms, statistical modeling, and data analysis in the telecom field.

Rana is, also, a MSc student who holds a BSc in electrical engineering from Alexandria University.

Rana worked as a Data Scientist at Eventum IT Solutions and a Communications and Electronics Teacher Assistant at the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University.

Abdelrahman is an Experienced Data Scientist and ML Engineer at Ericsson, he previously worked as a Data Scientist for Ericsson Middle East as SAS technical consultant. 

Abdelrahman is a MSc student and holds a bachelor’s degree from Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences Ain Shams university. 

AbouOuf joined Ericsson 2021 as a Data Scientist in AI and Analytics team developing use-cases for network optimization.

He started his career as a summer digital transformation intern at Dell Technologies during 2019, then moved to Nana Saudi to work as a Data Scientist developing ML solutions in the digital marketplace field.

AbouOuf has a publication regarding Deep Learning approaches for NLP and Computer Vision in Automotive field and holds a BSc. In Computer Engineering from Mansoura university.

Mariam is an Experienced Data Scientist at Ericsson who joined through the graduate program.

Mariam has a MSc degree in the Security of Reinforcement Learning from GUC with a publication at IEE Xplore, also she used to be a research and teaching assistant at GUC for 2 years.

Mariam is a global mentor in Ericsson Innovation Award and Innovation ambassador at Ericsson 0NE.

She is a volunteer at Nasa Space Apps Cairo, which helps the youth in Egypt to generate new ideas for NASA competition yearly. she holds BSc in computer science and ranked 1st among her class

Abdelrahman is a Data Scientist at Ericsson, specializing in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), and computer vision (CV). He holds a bachelor's degree in computer and information sciences from Ain Shams University, where he ranked 5th in his class, and specialized in the Scientific Computing Department.

Abdelrahman has gained hands-on experience through an internship at Siemens, where he focused on enhancing verification processes using machine learning techniques. He has also contributed as a Technical Mentor at DeepLearning.AI, helping learners solve complex AI challenges, and as a Teaching Assistant at the German University in Cairo (GUC), where he taught machine learning courses.

Mohamed Abdelaziz is a Data Scientist at Ericsson focused on leveraging network data to drive optimization and maintenance of communication solutions. He applies AI and machine learning techniques to monetize network data and improve overall network performance.

Mohamed has built a strong foundation in data science through academic studies and diverse practical experiences, developing skills in machine learning, deep learning, and data analysis. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science with an Artificial Intelligence major from Cairo University.

Mohamed is a Senior Cloud Software Architect who joined Ericsson in 2023, responsible for designing and architect cloud-native applications for cognitive network solutions.

He has +19 years of experience in the software industry, big data, cloud, enterprise application development, and different architecture types, Mohamed holds an MSc in computer engineering (AI thesis), and I am a certified TOGAF and AWS architect.

When He is not at work, he spends his time with family (4 kids), traveling, swimming, and his favorite Aikido.

Abdalla is a Senior ML Technical Lead and Product Owner responsible for combining the state-of-the-art AI/ML algorithms and software development when it comes to cloud native solutions. 

Abdallah Holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering. He has been working for Ericsson and started his journey as a Data scientist in 2019 on network optimization use cases. 

He’s an expert when it comes to architecting ML-based projects and transforming them into end products.

Hassan is a Cloud Technical Lead, who joined Ericsson in 2022, Hassan has +15 years of experience developing web applications and working with a wide array of software technologies.

Hassan is a highly skilled Technical Lead with a proven record of success in leading successful development projects and providing technical guidance to team members.

Hassan holds a bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Computer engineering from Higher Technological Institute.

Muhammed is a Cloud Frontend Technical Lead at Ericsson responsible for developing micro-frontends for cloud native solutions, he holds a bachelor's degree in computer science, he contributed to real-life apps that run worldwide and serve thousands of users in different industries like digital marketing, social platforms, ERP, fintech, events management. and more. 

Muhammed contribution's impacted +5M   people on Stack Overflow, he built developer and user-friendly integration SDKs for one of the leading online payment providers in the MEAP region. and has open-source JavaScript packages.

Muhammed is a front-end enthusiasm who cares about the user's journey through the solid and up-to-date software user interface. He spends his working day between the code and the browser.

Yousef is a Cloud Technical Lead who joined Ericsson in 2022, responsible for developing micro-services for cloud-native solutions, He holds a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences at Suez Canal University. 

He participated as a competitor in the ACM ECPC (Egyptian Collegiate Programming Contest), and ACM ACPC (Arab Collegiate Programming Contest), which helped him gain very good knowledge in algorithms, data structures, and problem-solving techniques with an efficient performance in time and size.

Ahmed is a Cloud Technical Lead, He equipped with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, has been actively contributing as a Back-End Engineer since 2020, bringing his expertise to various domains through engagements with multiple companies.

Ahmed joined Ericsson in 2023, where he is currently responsible for developing micro-services for cloud-native solutions, further enriching his technical skills.

Abdelrahman is a Cloud Tech Lead at Ericsson joined in 2025. He is an experienced backend engineer specialized in building scalable, high-performance systems, particularly within the eCommerce and Point of Sale (POS) domains. Now at Ericsson he focuses on designing and implementing cloud-native solutions that drive efficiency and innovation. Abdelrahman holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Suez Canal University and brings a strong foundation in system design and team leadership to every project.

Meran Sharawy is a seasoned Cloud Technical Lead at Ericsson with over five years of experience. Holding a bachelor's degree in computer science, Meran has built a diverse professional background spanning telecommunications, banking, and sports. With passion in cloud technologies and innovative solutions.

Moustafa Mahmoud is a Cloud Backend Developer who has been actively contributing to the field of back-end engineering since 2023. With a focus on building scalable and efficient systems. In 2025, Moustafa joined Ericsson, where he currently develops microservices for cloud-native solutions. His role allows him to deepen his expertise in cloud technologies.

Ziad Mostafa is a Test Automation Engineer at Ericsson, renowned for his diverse skill set and unwavering passion for innovation and quality. With a strong focus on software testing and quality assurance, Ziad is dedicated to leveraging his entrepreneurial experience to develop agile, high-quality solutions. Prior to joining Ericsson, Ziad worked at several startups in the Gulf region, where he played a pivotal role in establishing robust software quality processes and ensuring the stability of product releases. During his tenure at Instabug, Ziad made significant contributions to the testing process of their SDK, which is now deployed on over 2 billion smartphones worldwide. Ziad holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer and Systems Engineering from Ain Shams University.
