Ericsson Tests HARMAN Spark for CTIA’s IoT Cybersecurity Program
Ericsson Device and Application Verification (EDAV) lab in Richardson, Texas, US, has carried out testing for CTIA’s (the wireless communications industry body in the US) first certified device – the HARMAN Spark – through CTIA’s Internet of Things Cybersecurity Certification Program.
The HARMAN Spark, offered exclusively by AT&T, is a new aftermarket telematics device that plugs into the OBD-II port of vehicles manufactured after 1996 to enable connected car capability.
Tomas Ageskog, Head of Digital Services, Market Area North America, Ericsson, says: “The EDAV labs will play a critical role in the IoT ecosystem, as Ericsson predicts the number of IoT devices to rapidly expand in the coming years.
"The number of cellular IoT connections is expected to reach 4.1 billion in 2024, according to a projection in the most recent Ericsson Mobility Report.”
