How can Sweden accelerate the journey from emerging technologies to real-world impact? A new national test and innovation arena aims to help answer that question by bringing together advanced connectivity, artificial intelligence, real-world test environments and expertise from industry, academia and the public sector.

With an investment of more than SEK 300 million, Digital Arena Sweden is designed to strengthen Sweden’s innovation capacity and global competitiveness. By connecting technology providers, researchers, companies and public-sector organizations with test environments and practical use cases, the initiative aims to shorten the journey from innovation to implementation.

Just five months after the creation of the initiative,  it will officially launch with events between November 10-26 in Lund, Gothenburg, Stockholm and Luleå. The first event will take place on November 10 at Ericsson’s premises in Lund. Organizations from across Sweden are invited to explore how AI, 5G, 6G and APIs can help address real-world challenges and create new solutions.

Digital Arena Sweden is led by Future by Lund and Lund University, together with Ericsson, Telia and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, and its subsidiary AstaZero. The initiative is being developed in collaboration with a broad ecosystem of partners and is funded through the Advanced Digitalisation Innovation and Collaboration Programme, with support from Sweden’s investment agency, Vinnova.

The Arena will provide a platform for organizations to test, learn and collaborate around technologies that are shaping the future of connectivity and digitalization. From advanced wireless networks to AI-enabled services and application programmable interface (API)-driven ecosystems, the focus is on turning technical possibilities into practical value.

By bringing together Sweden’s innovation ecosystem in real-world environments, Digital Arena Sweden seeks to make it easier to experiment with new solutions, build partnerships and scale ideas that can benefit businesses and society.

The launch events offer organizations, small and medium-sized businesses, start-ups, researchers and future graduate engineers an opportunity to discover the Arena, meet potential partners and discuss how emerging technologies can be applied to the challenges that matter most. Digital Arena Sweden invites organizations across Sweden to join the launch and help shape the next generation of digital innovation.
