He was later joined at the Nasdaq MarketSite by several executive team members and company colleagues in the traditional ceremony to end the day’s trading on the exchange.

A huge digital billboard on Times Square displayed photos of Ericsson colleagues as the event addressed Ericsson’s history and future – led by its people.

Ekholm says: "For 150 years, Ericsson has been a technology leader, and our success factor has always been our ability to change. Now we are changing the game again as we build the best networks for AI. I am truly excited to explore this next horizon."

The event also highlighted the central role of AI-powered 5G and new revenue opportunities for operators and enterprises to Ericsson.

Ericsson is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm in Sweden, and its American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) trade in the United States on Nasdaq.
