Ericsson, Rogers launch Canada’s first commercial 5G standalone network
Rogers Communications announced today it has launched the first commercial 5G standalone (SA) network in Canada, turning on the next-generation service after completing the rollout of Canada’s first national standalone 5G core and the country’s first 5G standalone device certification.

- Ericsson unlocks new 5G edge use cases with the launch of the Local Packet Gateway as a pre-integrated solution, providing easier and faster time-to-service for communication service providers (CSPs) to deploy new enterprise services
- New Ericsson solution provides optimized dual-mode user plane footprint designed for on-premises and edge applications
- For CSPs it means lower cost for infrastructure deployment and a lifecycle management highly optimized for the edge
