The growth and potential future development of AI across all aspects of working and private life was a top recurring news theme around the world in 2025. AI was also a common and growing theme in Ericsson news output as the company documented continuing evidence of technological prowess, industry leadership, 5G and global connectivity strength, sustainability. Here’s the first of our 2025 Year in Review from January to June.
Ericsson 4.5 GHz Massive MIMO AIR 3255 radios operational in DOCOMO’s 5G network
- Rollout got underway in December 2025 to meet current and future needs in DOCOMO's high-traffic areas
- Equipped with the latest Ericsson Silicon, AIR 3255 further reduces energy consumption, CO2 emissions and weight compared to previous radio generations
- New radios will integrate with existing 3.7 GHz band Massive MIMO radios to boost spectrum efficiency
Ericsson, Port of Tyne and BT chart successful course with private 5G
- Port of Tyne, BT, and Ericsson report new operational gains, after several years of using Ericsson Private 5G, including support for Caterpillar’s CatCommand system for remotely controlled shovels.
- The private 5G solution supports real-time video analytics, sensors, and connected equipment across the port’s dynamic environment

stc Group signs five-year Master Frame Agreement with Ericsson to advance Saudi Arabia’s digital infrastructure
- Strengthened partnership ramps up stc group actions to accelerate delivery of digital infrastructure in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030
- The five-year agreement spans 5G hardware and software, cloud-native solutions, and advanced AI-driven managed services solutions

Ericsson enters into strategic partnership with LotusFlare to accelerate adoption of network APIs
- The partnership complements Ericsson’s broad offering of solutions for Communication Service Providers (CSPs) to expose and monetize advanced capabilities via network Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
- Ericsson and LotusFlare will provide common solution blueprints that describe typical integration scenarios for the Network API Exposure Layer, including API access and consent management and bring them to market to accelerate CSPs’ journey toward Network API monetization
