Canadian drone test uses LTE network to deliver defibrillators
LTE-enabled delivery of life-saving equipment and emergency medical supplies via beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) drones could see a 17-fold increase in the distance covered compared to current non-mobility-enabled alternatives. That’s just one finding from successful tests driven by health authorities in the Canadian province of Ontario, enabled by Ericsson LTE connectivity.

Ericsson and Telenor test Norway’s largest 5G pilot network
Ericsson and Nordic communications service provider Telenor have connected two Norwegian locations via 5G for the first time, as part of the country’s largest 5G pilot network.
Ericsson estimates costs for resolving investigations by U.S. authorities at SEK 12 b. and makes provision in third quarter
- As previously disclosed, Ericsson has been co-operating voluntarily with investigations by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and with the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) regarding the Company’s compliance with the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
- Ericsson makes a SEK 12 b. provision related to resolving the investigations, that will impact the third quarter 2019 results, to cover an estimated monetary sanction of USD 1.0 b, plus other related costs. The process to find a resolution is still ongoing.

Ericsson ramps up digitalization and production at European factories
Ericsson’s factory in Estonia is nearing the completion of a major SEK 500 million investment, while the company has established production with a partner in Poland – both part of its global supply strategy of securing fast and agile deliveries through customer proximity.
