Ericsson and Zain partner for 5G research and development
Collaborative agreement signed at ZTC 2016 to pave the way for 5G development and deployment in the region. The agreement will allow Zain and Ericsson to evaluate performance and applicability of potential 5G key technology components.
Industry partners commit to NFV interoperability testing initiative
- To further enhance Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) industrialization and support the Open Platform for NFV (OPNFV) project, Cisco, Ericsson, Huawei and Nokia signed Memorandum of Understanding to create the NFV Interoperability Testing Initiative (NFV-ITI).
- The main objective of NFV-ITI is to promote competition and create industry alignment on generic principles for NFV interoperability testing and support for specific customer situations.
- NFV-ITI will address NFV multi-vendor interoperability challenges for communication service providers, enabling them to optimize NFV deployment and integration costs, and reduce time-to-market for new services.
Three new start-ups to be coached and mentored by Telia Company and Ericsson
In September, Telia Company and Ericsson opened applications for Scale Your Business 2017, a joint coaching and mentoring program for start-ups. Three companies have now been selected to take part in the program.
Ericsson, Qualcomm Technologies and KPN successfully trial Cat-M1 technology
Europe’s first successful Cat-M1 trial in customer premises. Cat-M1 is a new technology for the cellular machine-type communications needed to enable Internet of Things (IoT). Cat-M1 milestone achieved using Ericsson Networks Software and Qualcomm Technologies’ MDM9206 LTE IoT modem.
