It’s no joke – Ericsson is 150 today

While large parts of the world celebrate April 1 as a day for pranks and jokes, Ericsson has a different reason to raise a celebratory smile. It is the date on which the company was founded. And this year marks a special anniversary – the  sesquicentennial – 150 years in business.

Ericsson and Forschungszentrum Jülich to develop advanced AI for 6G

  • Ericsson and major European research center Forschungszentrum Jülich are collaborating to develop technologies for continued evolution of 5G, and for the introduction of 6G networks across Ericsson's product portfolio.  
  • The project aims to leverage JUPITER, Europe’s first "exascale" supercomputer, to design and test new artificial intelligence solutions for the complex demands of 6G.
  • Key objectives include exploring ultra-efficient, "brain-inspired" computing approaches (“neuromorphic computing”) to handle intense network tasks and strengthening Europe's digital infrastructure

Ericsson’s President and CEO, Börje Ekholm, and Yossi Cohen, Head of Ericsson Americas, hosted two delegations on consecutive days as they toured the highly automated, 300,000 sq foot smart factory in Lewisville, which manufactures the 5G radios and basebands that power networks across the U.S.
