Innova Coverage and Capacity Optimization rApp

Portfolio

Innova CCO rApp is a Non-Real-Time RIC application for the Ericsson EIAP platform. It ingests cell-level performance counters, detects five classes of RAN anomalies, and generates A1 policies for tilt, transmit power, and handover parameter tuning - closing the loop between observation and corrective action without operator intervention.

OUR KEY BENEFITS

Autonomous closed-loop RAN optimization

CCO rApp continuously monitors cell-level performance counters and autonomously corrects coverage and capacity issues without operator intervention. It detects five classes of RAN anomalies – capacity hotspots, coverage holes, interference, handover failures, and underutilised cells – and pushes corresponding A1 policies for electrical tilt, transmit power, and handover offset adjustments. By closing the loop between observation and corrective action, the rApp reduces manual RAN optimization effort, accelerates response to emerging performance issues, and frees operations teams from repetitive parameter tuning. The rApp runs on a configurable polling interval (default 30 seconds) and exposes a live dashboard with cell topology, anomaly stream, A1 policy log, and analytics views.

Reduced operations cost through automation

Manual RAN optimization is labour-intensive and reactive – engineers spend significant time investigating performance complaints, identifying root causes, and applying parameter changes one cell at a time. CCO rApp automates this entire cycle: detection, decision, and policy push happen continuously across all cells in the network without engineer involvement. Operations teams can refocus on higher-value work such as capacity planning, new site rollout, and customer experience improvement. For typical mid-sized RAN deployments, the rApp targets reduction in manual optimization work for the addressed anomaly classes, with measurable savings in operational overhead and faster time-to-resolution for emerging coverage and capacity issues.

Vendor-neutral via standardised O-RAN interfaces

CCO rApp is built entirely against standardised O-RAN interfaces – R1/DME for performance data ingestion and A1 for policy distribution – with no vendor-proprietary dependencies. The rApp deploys on Ericsson EIAP and operates on RAN equipment from any vendor exposing compliant O-RAN interfaces, including Ericsson, Nokia, and Samsung. This vendor neutrality protects operator investment in multi-vendor and shared-RAN deployments, where a single optimization rApp can manage cells from multiple equipment vendors uniformly. The architecture also future-proofs the deployment against vendor consolidation or expansion decisions, since the rApp logic remains independent of which RAN vendor supplies the underlying radios.
