The Cell On/Off Switching (COOS) rApp delivers the most aggressive form of energy saving for multi-layer networks. Coordinates the complete deactivation of capacity cells during low traffic periods. Monitors the traffic load, power consumption, and based on that, generates appropriate traffic control policies and intelligently cells off/on.
Deep sleep energy saving: energy efficiency focus
The Cell On/Off Switching rApp enables "deep" energy savings in heterogeneous networks by identifying and deactivating redundant capacity cells (e.g., small cells) during off-peak hours. It continuously monitors load to instantly reactivate cells if demand surges, ensuring a seamless balance between maximum power reduction and quality of service.
Adaptive wake-up: ensures QoS protection
Continuously monitors the load on coverage (Anchor) cells. In the event of a sudden traffic spike, the rApp intelligently and immediately reactivates necessary capacity layers. This supports heterogeneous network scenarios, managing interactions between macro and small cells to ensure capacity is available exactly where and when it is needed.
Traffic steering rApp coordination
Resolves the "Ping-Pong" and Call Drop issues typical of legacy ES systems. By pairing the decision-making of COOS-rApp with Rimedo Labs Traffic Steering rApp. The solution actively manages user mobility before any hardware state change, e.g., by changing cells coverage area. This coordination enables aggressive energy-saving strategies that remain safe for network KPIs.
