Rimedo Labs Traffic Steering rApp
The Traffic Steering rApp from Rimedo Labs represents a strategic evolution from traditional, fixed-thershold-based Load Balancing towards holistic, network-wide traffic management. Collects information about cell configuration, bandwidth and load and updates the offsets between cells effectively modifying their coverage. As a result, better radio resource utilization is achieved, maximizing overall network efficiency.
Intelligent load balancing: optimizes network throughput and users QoS
The Traffic Steering rApp eliminates network congestion by dynamically redistributing traffic from overloaded cells to neighbours with spare capacity. The rApp monitors long-term PRB usage and user counts. Based on that, it adjusts Cell Individual Offsets (CIO) to steer UEs without forced handovers. This results in more effective utilization of radio resources, increased spectral efficiency, improved cell-edge throughput, and reduced connection rejection rates, significantly enhancing overall network KPIs.
Signalling overhead reduction
By shifting steering logic to the Non-Real-Time loop, the rApp minimizes "ping-pong" risks and reduces signalling overhead-typical Near-RT RIC solutions based on E2 interface - by modifying broadcast parameters rather than issuing individual per-UE commands.
Multi-vendor interoperability
The application is hardware-agnostic, utilizing standard O-RAN interfaces (O1, A1, R1), or proprietary API of individual SMO platform. This ensures seamless integration and support for diverse radio environments. The TS-rApp can be used jointly with other rApps provided either vy Rimedo Labs or other vendors like Cell On/Off Switching rApp or RF Channel Reconfiguration rApp.
