Radio 4891

Portfolio

Radio 4891 is at triple-band FDD radio with 8 antenna ports and 4T8R per band. The radio enables 2x improved uplink performance reusing existing passive antennas. It support up to 720 W (4x180 W) configured output power. The radio has improved performance and extended coverage with higher output power and 8 RX, less weight & lowered embodied CO2, more sustainable with >10% energy savings.
It supports 2G, 4G, 5G, NR.
Radio 4891 is Open RAN prepared, with both CPRI and eCPRI ports for packet-switched fronthaul.
Radio 4891 is part of the Ericsson Radio System portfolio with excellent radio performance and power efficiency for wide-area 3GPP radio products.

High‑performance dual‑band FDD radio designed to boost coverage and reliability with higher output power and eight shared receive branches. With separated TX ports to mitigate PIM and 3GPP‑declared 720 W operation up to 55°C, Radio 4891 delivers robust RF performance in demanding macro environments while maintaining efficiency with passive cooling and modern transport.

Why it matters

Extend coverage and uplift performance: Higher output power combined with 8RX delivers stronger uplink sensitivity and cleaner downlink, improving user experience at the cell edge.
Reduce PIM impact: Separated TX ports help mitigate passive intermodulation effects, safeguarding spectral efficiency in dense, complex sites.
Proven power at elevated temperatures: 3GPP‑declared 720 W up to 55°C ensures consistent performance in hot climates and constrained cooling scenarios.

OUR KEY BENEFITS

More performance and coverage

Improved performance and increased coverage with higher output power and 8RX.

PIM impact

Mitigation of PIM impact through separated TX ports.

Reliable operator

3GPP-declared 720 W total output power up to 55°C for reliable operation in high-temperature environments.
