The Groundhog CM Audit is a Configuration Management intelligence layer designed to augment existing network management platforms with operator-centric audit and governance capabilities. It ingests CM parameter data from multi-vendor network elements, normalises it against a unified reference model, and runs continuous compliance checks against operator-defined baselines (regulatory obligations and internal policy requirements). Persistent configuration history, two-date delta comparisons, and parameter-level trend tracking features together deliver the CM forensics capability needed for incident root-cause analysis, change management verification, and audit-trail obligations.
Multi-Vendor CM Audit
A vendor-agnostic reference layer abstracts vendor-specific models and parameter naming conventions into a normalised rule schema. Parameter presence, value constraints, and inter-parameter dependencies are evaluated uniformly across the full network fleet producing a consolidated cross-vendor compliance report. The result is consistent CM governance across the entire network without dependency on vendor composition or separate per-vendor audit processes.
Operator-defined Compliance Audit
Operators retain full editorial control over compliance rule sets, without vendor involvement or release dependencies requirement. These cover regulatory requirements, internal policy mandates, and regional exception handling. A structured classification framework filters known benign event classes at the audit stage, ensuring audit output reflects only genuine configuration deviations.
Delta and Trend Analysis
CM snapshots are persisted continuously, building a full historical record of network configuration state. The Snapshot Delta function computes a parameter-level delta between any two selected dates. This enables precise identification of configuration changes associated with KPI degradation events. A sudden-change trend view further allows operations teams to correlate CM drift patterns with network performance indicators, accelerating root-cause isolation during incident response.
