Ericsson discusses the connectivity of the future at AfricaTech Festival 2021

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) will discuss the connectivity of the future at this year’s AfricaTech Festival, a virtual event taking place from November 8 to November 12, 2021.

At the event, Ericsson will focus on key pertinent topics around fintech, Green ICT, communication service providers of tomorrow and connecting the next billion. As part of its keynotes and speaker sessions, Ericsson will cover topics such as paving the road to a 5G-enabled Africa, adapting and thriving well in a new mobile financial services landscape post-pandemic, connectivity’s role in combating climate change, enhancing service provider competitiveness through the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and why connectivity remains the foundation of Africa’s digital economies.

Africa is a very promising market with great potential. According to the Ericsson Mobility Report, by the end of 2026, Sub-Saharan Africa will have around 70 million 5G subscriptions. Moreover, according to Ericsson’s latest Mobile Financial Services on the Rise report, Sub-Saharan Africa’s mobile financial services use more than triples in six years.

Digitalization is transforming the eco-system, enabling sustainable growth, economic development and creating opportunities for all.  Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is essential for Africa’s development and adequate ICT service deployment and digital connectivity will play a crucial role in achieving economic sustainability in the continent.
